Adoption Application Forms
After we receive your application, we will contact you to set up a "field check." A field check is a home visit by one of our representatives and helps us to ensure that our greyhounds go to the best homes possible.
Because we insist on doing thorough field checks, it is the policy of Greyhound Pet Adoption Florida/Southeast to place our greyhounds somewhat locally. Exceptions have been made for special needs dogs and/or special circumstances.
After a positive field check the prospective adopter makes an appointment to come to the kennel and meet the dogs! The adoption donation is $250. Donations received are non-refundable.
Effective August 1, our donation adoption fee will increase to $325 due to increased medical costs for the intake of the Greyhounds.
If you were to pay for all of this individually with a vet, your cost would be at least $400.
When a greyhound initially arrives to us, he/she is given a flea bath and blood is drawn to perform a heartworm test and fecal test. If all tests are normal the dog is spayed or neutered and a
thorough dental cleaning is performed while under anesthesia.
We perform the following Tests/Procedures for all of our adoptable Greyhounds:
Heartworm test, includes treatment if needed
Fecal test, includes treatment if needed
Dental cleaning, includes extractions if needed
All vaccinations up to date, includes Rabies, Bordetella, DHLPP
Flea/tick medication (Bravecto), protects for 3 months from intake
Heartworm disease prevention (ProHeart), protects for 6 months from intake
